Oh no. A new blog.

UPDATED: blog address changed.

I don't really have time for this. I really don't. I obviously abandoned this project. I'm sorry. I gradually stopped watching TV as much (although this has picked up recently--I have a new found love for Bones and I'm watching my way through Grey's Anatomy AGAIN) I just haven't had the time or the will power to write about it with all the college work and internships (at the ACLUPA this semester, and I'm newly writing for 215mag.com, a philly based webzine).

Don't hate me. I'm starting a new blog over a Wordpress. http://www.kristengillette.wordpress.com. I've been taking gymnastics this semester and tomorrow night I'm starting ballet, so this seemed fitting. It was inspired by this: http://hellogiggles.com/adventures-in-adulthood-beginners-ballet

Please don't abandon me. Come read about my successes (and more often, my struggles). More importantly, please share your experiences. You don't have to be a writer or anything. I want to know what you're doing that you've always wanted to do as child or what you're doing that you gave up on as a child. I want this blog to be more user based than this one currently is, or ever was. I want people to be able to read about how people were fearless in trying new things or going to back to what they quit to be inspired to try it on their own.

And if this project fails, you can always find me on twitter: @kristengillette.

The Girls

It's been over a month, and I'm ashamed.

But anyway, I've fallen in love with TV again, especially the girls of TV. I'm not writing, and that is because the bulk of my time is taken up by TV. I fell in love with Zooey Deschanel's New Girl (it's hilarious and Zooey is adorable--what's not to love) and 2 Broke Girls (while not the best is still worth a casual view if you're not doing anything on a Monday night--and seriously, who is)?

If you haven't heard of New Girl--download it, watch it onDemand (seriously, about the only perk of having Comcast cable right now--I've watched every episode at least twice) or just tune in on Tuesdays at 9 after Glee. It follows the sweet-heart Jess (Zooey) who has just moved in with three guys after a rough break up. She's quirky and innocent (in a recent episode she couldn't say the word penis outloud), making for an extremely lovable character.

The guys are awesome too. Nick, like Jess, is also going through a break-up, and is adorable. Schmidt is altogether just ridiculous in all the stupid things he does just to try to win girls over, especially Jess's best friend, Cece. Winston, the other roommate, has just returned from Latvia where he played basketball. Each week, the show throws the four roommates into a new situation, which is always bound to be hilarious.

The other girls in my life Max (Kat Dennings) and Caroline (Beth Behrs), who are two broke girls living in a Brooklyn apartment with a horse (Caroline was rich before her dad lost all her winnings). The two work at a diner (which in itself is kinda boring) but are trying to upstart their own cupcake company. Each episode ends with the total amount of money they've raised towards the new business, which is adorable. Kat Dennings is one of my favorite actresses (she was awesome in Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist) and her sarcastic wit is what makes the show worth watching.

What TV shows are taking up most of your time?

Baseball Ruins Everything

Not really, but when it comes to my favorite TV shows it kind of does.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fairly-huge Phillies fan. I watched every single one of their play-off games. But now that they're out (and the Yankees are too), I could just care less. I lost what I usually spend my October watching--but still lose Glee and New Girl to those other teams still in the playoffs.

Oh well. There's always Netflix and catching up on old shows. Got any good suggestions?

I'm Back

I'm back. At least I hope I am.

Several things caused me to stop blogging over the past year--I became too busy (with non-writing related classes) and I fell out of love with TV. That's right. The girl who once tried to watch 3 shows every Thursday at 8 had simply stopped watching TV. I hardly watched my DVDs either. The only show I would occasionally catch would be Glee on Tuesday nights--and that was only when it was a social activity. I remember missing the finale because I was out playing frisbee or something, and that wasn't like me at all.

But I'm watching TV again, not as much as I used to, but it's back in my life. Mostly in the form of the Food Network, but it's back. I've watched hours and hours of the show Chopped. I have a problem.

I am watching a few other shows--Glee (just because I've always watched Glee), The New Girl (because who doesn't love Zooey Deschanel? and my boyfriend likes it too) and Big Bang Theory (is finally back in my life after watching all three old seasons over the summer).

Don't worry, that's not all. I'm finally going to attempt to finish Firefly, and I really really want to check out Breaking Bad (it just hasn't happened yet).

I'll also be blogging for Grey Unicorn (a Philadelphia-based multimedia and film company) and movies. You'll be able to check that out here: http://www.greyunicorn.com once it gets going.

I can't wait to get started again!
