Kids Reenact Keeping Up With The Kardashians
It's hilarious. I especially love that Lamar Odom is just played by a cardboard cut out and the kid who plays Scott.

A Look At This Year's Emmy Awards
For the most part, the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmys were exactly what you'd expect from a long-running awards show: AMC and HBO's flagship series swept the event, Jimmy Fallon told some jokes. About 13.5 million Americans watched the telecast, which was telecast live on both coasts simultaneously for the first time since 1976.
Unlike other awards shows, like perhaps the Oscars, where the same people regularly win for similar roles in many films, the Emmys almost certainly suffer from the fact that year after year, so long as a show stays good, it keeps up its nominations and wins. HBO's content perhaps deviates from this formula slightly, given their tendency to produce more miniseries and made-for-TV movies than just about anyone else, but they produce the Emmy equivalent of Oscar-bait almost unavoidably, and it works. The network won Outstanding Miniseries for The Pacific (competing only with PBS's Return to Cranford, an adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's spinster stories), Outstanding Made for Television Movie for Temple Grandin, a category in which HBO had 3/5 of the nominees with that film, The Special Relationship and You Don't Know Jack. Though they didn't win Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special, four of the six nominees were HBO specials. The same sort of dominance showed up in the Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a Miniseries or Movie categories, where Al Pacino and Claire Danes won for You Don't Know Jack and Temple Grandin, respectively, nominated against 5 other HBO films' actors.
For its very good third season, Mad Men received many nominations and few wins, but it kept Outstanding Drama Series and won Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for the third year in a row, where it was competing against itself. Virtually its entire cast received nominations for their roles: Jon Hamm, January Jones, John Slattery, Christina Hendricks, Elisabeth Moss, and Robert Morse.
NBC's comedies, both rising and in decline, went widely uncelebrated compared to past performances. The Office received a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, as did 30 Rock, though neither won, marking 30 Rock's first loss in this category (much of both series' principal casts received nominations in their respective categories). Surprisingly, only Amy Poehler received a nomination for Parks and Recreation's vastly improved second season, and even that it didn't win. Provided that it continues to get better -- it's shaken much of the criticisms leveled against it -- perhaps this will change in the years to come. NBC's former drama -- and by this I mean Friday Night Lights -- received nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress, as well as Outstanding Writing, but won nothing.
If anything marks a breakout, then, it's the emergence of pop culture phenomenon Glee, which received 19 nominations, three of which it won, and ABC comedy Modern Family, which received almost 10. Glee took home awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series and Modern Family received awards for Outstanding Comedy Series (over Glee, NBC's comedies, Nurse Jackie and Curb Your Enthusiasm), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (where it was nominated three times), and Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.

Shut out most egregiously was Party Down, which was canceled following low ratings and Adam Scott's departure for a major role in Parks and Recreation's upcoming third season. As one of the better comedies on television, it merited at least consideration for Scott and Ken Marino, if not Jane Lynch, who moved on to the much more successful Glee after the show's first season (and won Outstanding Supporting Actress for her performance).
All in all, it was another under-watched, largely uninteresting awards show with fairly predictable results. If you missed this one, there'll conveniently be another next year.

Want to Give Kristen Bell A Birthday Present?
Kristen Bell, star of Veronica Mars (as well as the upcoming comedy You Again), is asking for a birthday present from all her fans. No, she isn't greedy. She's trying to raise money in order to give clean water the billion people in this world without it and is asking her fans to donate money to the cause.
As Kristen puts it on the Donation Page:
A billion people in the world are living without clean water. EFF THAT.
Water-borne illness is the second highest cause of childhood death in the world. NOT ON MY WATCH.
45,000 people will die this week alone from contaminated water illnesses. Y'ALL, LETS GET OFF OUR HINEYS AND FIX THIS.
Please help me get to my goal of 100K and let's have a clean water toast.
Cheers,
Kristen
Even if you can only afford to give a little, it will still help the cause.

Guest Post: Gugu Mbatha-Raw in New TV Spy Drama “Undercovers” Gets to Kick Some Serious Butt
Another guest post brought to you by the wonderful Phylis Z. Miller:
J.J. Abrams has taken the successful formula he used for the ABC TV drama series “Alias” and used a similar template, including a comic relief character, for his new fall NBC show “Undercovers,” of which I’ve seen the pilot co-written by show co-creator Josh Reims.

This time, though, also sprinkled in are bits of the Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt film “Mrs. And Mrs. Smith,” in which the conceit is that both Angelina Jolie’s character and Brad Pitt’s character are assassins who don’t know about each other’s assassin career.
In “Undercovers” the husband and wife team (starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, playing Samantha Bloom, and Boris Kodjoe, playing Steven Bloom) are not at each other’s throats but they are too tired for sex.
Former CIA agents (they met at “The Farm” – the CIA’s training center), they’ve been out of the agency for several years and are now running their own catering business. A CIA representative comes knocking to ask them to find and rescue their former colleague because Samantha Bloom had been working with this agent when she left the agency.
Of course they say no way.
Then Samantha Bloom decides to say yes to the rescue mission before her husband says yes. He, meanwhile, says he would do the mission if his wife isn’t told. Oops, too late; she has already signed on. And, anyway, where is he going to tell his wife he is going when he leaves town, especially with a major catering commission on hand?
Now I did find it somewhat of a disconnect when, in the middle of a very tense life-and-death situation, Samantha Bloom is on her cell advising her sister regarding problems at the catering event. True, I know how much multitasking women do, but this much seems rather ridiculous.
Still, in “Undercovers” the wife gets to be as heroic as her husband, even though, when they are in Russia at the climax of their rescue mission, he does want her to remain safely behind. (Of course she doesn’t.)
Then when their adrenaline kicks in – and they get their mojo back – they sign on permanently while keeping the catering business as their cover.
“Undercovers” will definitely add a nice dimension to the recent run of TV dramas with strong action heroines. Gabrielle Anwar’s Fiona Glenanne in USA Network’s popular “Burn Notice” and Piper Perabo’s Annie Walker in USA Network’s new “Covert Affairs” also each get to kick some serious butt.
And here’s my personal CIA story:
While at Wharton getting an M.B.A., I applied to the CIA and filled out numerous copies of numerous forms on an electric typewriter. But on the day that the CIA called inviting me down to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, for a two-day interview process I had a change of heart. I just couldn’t see myself, currently married with a house in Philly, as a CIA agent stationed in some end-of-the-world country.
To this day I regret at least not going for the two-day interview process. And what really rankles me is that an episode of “Top Chef” this season takes place at Langley. Talk about national security and need-to-know!

Blue Bloods (CBS)
Blue Bloods is a police drama set in New York about a family of cops. Tom Selleck plays Frank, the chief of police, whose father was also chief. Donnie Wahlberg plays his oldest son Danny - a blunt investigator and Iraq War vet who uses questionable tactics to close cases. Will Estes plays Jaime, the youngest son who is fresh out of the police academy, and rounding out the cast is daughter Erin, who is assistant district attorney, played by Bridget Moynahan. Blue Bloods was created by some of the people behind The Sopranos, but this show looks at life on the other side of the law, and the family dynamics involved with multiple generations of police.
The Event (NBC)
The Event is a conspiracy thriller that follows Sean, played by Jason Ritter. Sean is on a search for his missing girlfriend Leila (Sarah Roemer), and comes across a vast government conspiracy and unwittingly begins to expose the biggest cover-up in history. Sean’s journey affects many people including the U.S. President, who is played by Blair Underwood. Laura Innes, Bill Smitrovich and Scott Patterson round out the cast of people whose futures are uncertain in a world where a massive global conspiracy could affect all of mankind.
Outsourced (NBC)
In this workplace comedy, newcomer Ben Rappaport plays Tom, an American who works at one of the world’s largest novelty companies, and who just passed the management-training course. After a little downsizing, Tom is sent to India to look after a group of customer service representatives that aren’t very experienced when it comes to American culture… or customer service. In order to keep his job, he must teach them the tools of the trade, without too much culture clash. The sales team includes many characters including the socially awkward Gupta (Parvesh Cheena), Manmeet (Sacha Dhawan), a young romantic who loves America, and Rajiv (Rizwan Manji), who plays the assistant manager that wants Tom’s job.

Lazy Saturday
TV-wise, not much has started yet, but I can't wait til the fall premieres. Also, my roommates turned me on to two new TV shows--It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia as well as Project Runway. Today I'll probably catch up on last week's Weeds and watch the series Tin Man I mentioned earlier, as well as work on some blogs for Sarah Scoop!
Also--tomorrow I'll be headed to a dusk-til-dawn Drive-in movie-a-thon so I'll be missing Keeping Up With The Kardashians, but I'll try to catch up Monday!

Guest Post: Scott Pilgrim vs the Animation
This Guest post was brought to you by Sara Allen of www.inkandpixelclub.com
Scott Pilgrim vs. the Animation is an animated short created to promote the live-action film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Both the short and the movie are based on Brian Lee O’Malley’s excellent Scott Pilgrim graphic novels. The short debuted on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block on August 12 and is still available to view on Adult Swim’s website.
The animated short tells how Scott met and briefly dated his band’s drummer, Kim Pine. This part of Scott’s history is fully explored in the comics – in the first chapter of volume 2 – but is only mentioned in passing in the movie. So it’s an ideal subject for a four-minute special. Because this story wasn’t originally meant as an introduction to Scott and his world or a stand-alone narrative, it may be more meaningful to people who have read the comics (which I recommend) or seen the movie (which I also recommend). But even if you aren’t familiar with the story already, the short will whet your appetite for the movie and give you and introduction to Scott, the world he lives in, and the video game styled boss battles he has to fight.
The voices for the main characters are provided by the actors from the film. Even the characters that don’t appear in the movie are voiced by actors who play different characters in the film. Normally it drives me crazy to see “face” actors taking parts that would otherwise go to professional voice actors. (I do consider Mae Whitman a real voice actor because of the large amount of voice work she’s done alongside her onscreen performances, most notably as Katara on Avatar: The Last Airbender.) But between the animation being a teaser for the movie and all of the actors actually doing a pretty good job, I’m happy with the results and I’m making an exception.
Since Scott Pilgrim began life in comics form, animation is an ideal medium to retell his story with. In fact, as much as I did enjoy the movie, part of me still wishes that it had been animated instead of live-action. I felt that way even before I saw Scott, Kim, and their various friends and foes in animation, and watching the short only made it clearer how well an animated Scott Pilgrim works. The style is just about as accurate to O’Malley’s artwork as it can possibly be. Flash animation can often result in characters that look like a group of cutout pieces being tilted back and forth to simulate movement, but that’s not the case here. Animation studio Titmouse Inc. has done quite a bit of work for Cartoon Network before and certainly isn’t slacking off on this project. Details like changes in the shapes of the characters’ eyes add to the illusion of life and the animation in the fight scene is surprisingly fluid and dynamic. It’s a lot of fun to watch and extremely faithful to the source material.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the Animation is a lot of fun. It’s a great introduction to the tone and content of the Scott Pilgrim world for newcomers and a wonderful homage to the comics for longtime fans. So whether you loved the movie, loved the comics, or don’t know a thing about either, check out Scott Pilgrim vs. The Animation.

Guest Post: Piper Perabo in New TV Series COVERT AFFAIRS Plays a Realistic CIA Field Agent
What makes this spy thriller believable (as a TV drama) starting with the first episode is the scene in which Annie is hauled in to speak with a trainer and she believes she is about to be cut from training.
She blabbers that she’ll take retake the exercise. She asks if it was the driving course or the deception training.
The reply is that she was better on the driving course than any woman they’ve ever had and better on the deception training than anyone in a decade.
Then she is told she is being yanked from training to immediately report to Langley – CIA headquarters.
And, yes, she does silly newcomer things and is then introduced to her new secret world by Auggie Anderson (played by Christopher Gorham), a Langley analyst blinded on a special ops mission. (His computer has a Braille keyboard.)
What I like best about this new series is that it is relatively realistic. Perabo is not Angelina Jolie in the new movie “Salt,” a CIA operative who functions more like Spider Man than a real CIA field operative.
Perabo’s Annie Walker is an active field agent but she doesn’t do any superhuman feats.
What’s more, during her polygraph exam in the first episode it is established that she speaks six languages. (Thanks to having traveled around the world in search of herself.) And this language ability is integrally woven into the episodes.
Although “Covert Affairs” takes the usual TV dramatic license with the realities of jurisdiction between the CIA, the FBI and local police, it does provide an interesting insider’s look into CIA covert operations.
I highly recommend this show for its entertaining plots and for its realistic portrayal of a female action heroine. And the show rightly takes its place alongside a sister show on USA Network that I also highly recommend – “Burn Notice” – in which a female operative is also realistically portrayed.

Bazinga!
(Only the first time around is important, it's the only video I could find that would let me embed the video)
Sheldon is by far my favorite character on the show, he truly adds to the shows comedic values with his humorous one-liners. This is from the episode entitle the Gorilla Experiment:
Sheldon: Why are you crying?
Penny: Because I'm stupid!
Sheldon: That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.
To hear more of Sheldon's one-liners, watch season 4 of the Big Bang Theory this fall.

World's Most Beautiful People--Dianna Agron
What is real beauty? Here Dianna Agron dishes on what she believes real beauty to be.
Who are you?
In an attempt to bring some personality to this blog which I feel sometimes its dearly missing, here's a survey stolen from the lovely Cafe Fashionista:
Where do you live?
A. Currently, a smallish town in Pennsylvania. In about two days I'll be headed back to the city that is the love of my life--Philadelphia, for school.
What would your perfect day consist of?
A. Alone: Curled up in bed with some junk food watching endless episodes of my favorite TV show.
With Friends: Watching endless episodes of television or old movies like Breakfast at Tiffany's and Sabrina. I love Audrey.
Who is your fashion muse?
A. At the moment, it's definitely a mix between Zooey Deschanel and the wonderful Lea Michele, and of course Dianna Agron a little bit. See my attempts to recreate Dianna's hairstyle on this very blog. TV basically influences my life everywhere haha.
What do you always order from Starbucks?
A. Summer and anytime it's not freezing: A grande caramel Frappachino. In the winter, its a tall Gingerbread latte.
7 Passions:
A. Writing, television, books, movies, friends, love and life.
What are your obsessions?
A. Television. Movies. Jonathan Groff. Glee. Writing. Coffee. Mac and Cheese from Panera. Lea Michele. Zooey Deschanel. She and Him. Zac Efron. Dianna Agron.
What is your favorite quote?
A. I have way too many. So I think I'm just going to leave them all here.
“It’s important to say to yourself, Today was a good day.”
— Dianna Agron
Logan: I thought our story was epic, you know? You and me.
Veronica: Epic how?
Logan: Spanning years and continents. Lives ruined, bloodshed, epic. But summer's almost here. And we won't see each other at all. Then you'll leave town then...it's over.
Veronica: Logan...
Logan: I'm sorry. About last summer. You know, if I could do it over...
Veronica: Come on. Ruined lives, bloodshed? You really think a relationship should be that hard?
Logan: No one writes songs about the ones that come easy.
"Because for me, it's always been you, Summer. It's always been you. And i've tried to fight it, & I've tried to deny it. But I can't. I can't do it. You're undeniable." ♥
So it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day. --the notebook
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away”
And the one I feel fits me so very well at the moment: "Tragedy blows through your life like a tornado, uprooting everything, creating chaos. You wait for the dust to settle, and then you choose. You can live in the wreckage and pretend it’s still the mansion you remember. Or you can crawl from the rubble and slowly rebuild. Because after disaster strikes, the important thing is that you move on. But if you’re like me, you just keep chasing the storm." --Veronica Mars
What is your favorite season?
A. Definitely summer (except for it's lack of TV). Being off from school, working at pool, staying up as late as you want--all that's missing is my friends from school.
What is on your bedside table?
A. My Ipod radio. Dozens of nail polish bottles. Victoria's Secret Lotion. Hair gel. Night face cream. I don't really have much else.
What’s on your playlist?
A. Currently I'm way to obsessed with anything by She & Him. Also, I've been listening to Glee a lot as well as Paramore.
What’s always in your bag?
A. My Ipod, my cellphone (if I'm not clutching it in my hand), my planner, a brush, some lipgloss, sunglasses, some sort of book that I'm reading (right now--The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and occasionally a TV box set.
Plus one more: What are your all time favorite TV shows?
Always Gilmore girls and Veronica Mars. I will never, ever, ever stop watching these.

Your turn! Fill this survey out, and post it here in the comments or on your own blog so I can learn more about you.
Who is your fashion muse?A.
What are your obsessions?A. Television.

I can't sleep
It's almost 1 a.m. here and I can't sleep so I'm watching the finale of Kourtney and Khloe take Miami for the 10000 time. I sometimes hate how E! only replays the same episode again and again and again, but I can't help it. It's the only channel I like to fall asleep to (unless they decide to show one of the top ten unsolved murder shows--then I switch to Comedy Central or Animal Planet).
What TV shows do you watch when you can't sleep? Maybe you can give me suggestions so I'm not always watching the same thing.
As a side note--did anybody watch Rescue Me tonight? I thought the beginning was really dragged out--but that ending certainly was a shocker.

The Tin Man
I'll be watching the miniseries The Tin Man, released in 2007 as a reimagining of The Wizard of Oz. This series stars Zooey Deschanel as a grown up Dorothy who's a waitress who then finds herself back in Oz.
I can't wait to start watching!

The Legacy of Moonlighting
What I don't like is the push together-pull away scenario. For example, it really gets on my nerves when the detectives are about to kiss and are interrupted by an urgent phone call. Or when they are about to confess how they feel and a long-lost lover walks in. Once is fine. Three hundred times, not so much.
Every writer, producer and actor claims that the push-pull is an important element in these stories. They are quick to point out the mistake Moonlighting made when the main characters fell in bed together. They claim that the ratings plummeted once the relationship was consummated. That may be true, but they forget one thing: the entire relationship between Maddie and David in Moonlighting was based on sexual tension.
Bones, on the other hand, is going to start its sixth season and there shouldn't be any push-pull or the travesty that was "The End in the Beginning" (Season 4, episode 25) where the characters are suddenly a married couple in a coma-induced dream. The let's-put-the-main-characters-in-bed-together-without-really-putting-them-in-bed-together set-up was disrespectful of the viewers who are loyal to the show and are invested in the storyline.
I don't watch Bones for the mysteries. The crime-solving is just an excuse for the characters to interact. The main characters, Booth and Bones, are the center of this ensemble, and they had a great chance to take the characterization to the next level at the 100th episode (Season 5, episode 16). But they pulled back too far. In fact, they made a complete mess out of it. They hurt a central relationship and they made Brennan's character too dismissive of Booth's feelings. The show is going to lose its core audience if it doesn't make some adjustments.
When are the creators going to learn that push-and-pull is a storytelling device and not the basis for a relationship? Enough of bringing in other love interests, tragic pasts that have already been laid to rest, or distractions. The creators have missed so many opportunities because they are worried it will be another Moonlighting. It's not going to happen and this is why: the relationship between Booth and Brennan is not just about the sexual tension. If they just went out on a date it would be funny, sad, sexy and tense! It would be good and bad. It would be emotional. These characters are so solid that the interaction would entertain and engage the audience.
So to the creators, producers and writers of Bones and Castle: Take a few risks and stop basing your

Changes
If you haven't noticed, I've made quite a few changes in the past couple of days as I plan to revamp this site for the fall.
1. I changed the pages layout so it's less busy and easier to read.
2. I removed all of the ads (except Amazon ones which let me use pictures for my post so I just like it because of that--if this harms anyone's viewing experience let me know). They weren't any making any money and were basically only doing harm.
3. I added a paypal button if anyone feels generous enough to donate.
4. I added a new contact form to making getting in touch with me even easier.
5. I've posted a new blog entry looking for special guest bloggers and added it to the pages. If your interested in a one time thing or a recurring posting job, check it out!
Do you have any other suggestions of changes I should make to this blog?

Keeping Up With the Kardashians
I love nothing more then to spend my day relaxing in bed watching a marathon of the Kardashians complaining and creating drama. One of my favorite episode's is when Khloe decides to challenge the idea that Kris is really because she looks different from the rest of the Kardashian siblings and she gets treated like the evil stepdaughter. It really is silly, and Khloe is Kris's daughter, but sometimes nonsense drama is just what a girl needs.

Guest Post: You’ve Done What To My Favorite Show?
This guest post was brought to you by Michael Senchuk. You can find his bio and links to his blog at the end of this post!
They’re moving “
Big Bang Theory” to Thursday? Are they serious? I’m sure that was the first reaction of many of you, just as it was me – at least until I let the analytical side of my brain go to work on figuring out why. See, I grew up in the broadcasting industry, as my father was an executive of two network affiliates - so television ratings, network scheduling, and lead-ins were all concepts I was very familiar with. That, combined with my analytical mind (see my business blog 360 Analysis Avenue for more examples of that), led me to ponder this latest move by CBS.
The explanation is pretty simple in this case – CBS wanted an extra hour of comedies on their schedule (perhaps because that’s where the trends are pointing, perhaps just because the pilots they green-lighted were shaping up that way), so needed an 8PM slot on some other night – and they chose Thursday. Rather than putting two new shows in a slot on Thursday night back-to-back, it mitigated the risk by taking one of their four quality Monday shows, and moving it to be a lead-in for the new comedy on Thursday night. Lead-ins are still extremely important in network scheduling - you’d be surprised how many people start on a channel for the evening, and leave it there for the rest of the night unless there’s a compelling reason to change the channel.
Back to Monday night - “How I Met Your Mother” (another of my favorites) is a high quality lead-in to the entire night of programming. - you really don’t want to move that. Their next show, with The Tick (“Rules of Engagement”), is too new to be valuable as a lead-in on Thursday night. Two And A Half Men would work, but it’s really been part of the Monday night lineup for too long. That leaves “The Big Bang Theory”, a quality show with a dedicated audience, but not so long-running you’d alienate your entire fan base – so off it goes to Thursday, as the new lead-in for that evening’s programs, followed by My Dad Says, CSI, and The Mentalist.
The network also cleared out the Monday 10PM slot for Hawaii Five-O, hoping it can capitalize on the network’s two hours of solid lead-in comedies (although obviously the jury will be out on Mike and Molly), and equally hoping CSI:Miami’s audience will follow it to Sunday (often a troublesome night for networks). Let’s not forget, a lot of new shows don’t make it, so don’t be surprised by quick adjustments, as CSB analyzes ratings early in the season for Mike & Molly, Hawaii Five-O, and My Dad Says.
Regardless, I know I’ll be following Big Bang Theory to Thursdays. Or at least, my Tivo will.
Michael Senchuk hails from way up north in Edmonton, Canada. Besides working in the finance department of one of Canada's largest poultry producers, he finds the time to blog on business analysis (www.360analysis.com) and new alternative music (www.newmusicmichael.com), as well as perform social media and business consulting.

Let's Watch Some E! as well as some blogging news
I've kind of gotten really disappointed with Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami as well as Holly's World lately.
First of all, neither of the shows really focuses on the main stars. Holly's World
mostly focuses on her friends (and not her). Guess she must lead a pretty boring life. It's not that I hate them, it's just that it's HOLLY'S World for a reason. Also, I could really care less about the Dash girls on Kourtney and Khloe, not to mention that Khloe seems to have completely left the show after an argument with Khloe (and now Kim is on the show).
It's almost enough to make me stop watching, but I'm addicted to almost everything E!.
What hasn't had me disappointed lately? Chelsea Lately.
If you haven't checked out some of Chelsea Handler's books, you should, because they're hilarious and a super quick and easy read. While I've yet to check out her latest book (Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang), her other ones were quite good and I'm in the process of ordering it now.
In more blogging news:
I'm going to start writing for another website, http://www.sarahscoop.com soon, and I'll mostly be covering TV. I should be posting links to all of my posts here, but they always get posted on my twitter: KristenGilmore (My mood magazine ones always get posted there as well) Just send me a tweet and I'll be sure to follow you back!

I Signed Up for Social Spark!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
This morning I signed up for SocialSpark, a website that connects you with advertisers so that you can earn money by posting about their products, essentially advertising for them. I took this opportunity after I learned about their website after signing up for their sister service, Sponsored Tweets.
The sign up process was a breeze. It literally took me five minutes to get everything set up before I began writing this post, and getting my blog confirmed was easy. All I had to do was post a sentence into my blog to confirm that I owned it, and after that it could be deleted. It was also nice to find possible opportunities for sponsored posts as soon as I had created an account. Social Spark also allows you to link multiple blogs in one convenient place so you don’t have to worry about having multiple logins.
Being a sophomore journalism student, not many opportunities allow you to get paid for doing your work, but if you already run a blog (I run a few) Social Spark (as well as related services offered by Izea such as Pay per Post) allow you to make a little bit of money doing what you love.
Go here to Sign up for SocialSpark .

Oh yeah....
I've been neglecting this blog yet again. But I've been busy. I work practically full time as a lifeguard, and I've been interning at Mood Magazine (you should check it out!). As soon as my TV related articles go up there I will link you guys to them.
Not only that, but my TV watching has greatly decreased because of my work load. Right now I'm only watching Rescue Me (Pretty Little Liars kind of lost my interest) and Holly's World and Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami. Also, Party Down sadly got taken off of Netflix so I don't really have a way of watching it anymore.
However, I still promise to bring you guys new stuff in the future once fall TV starts and slightly revamping the site to bring you guys more TV news.
How have you been spending your summer?

Pretty Little Liars
It tells the story of four girls whose best friend mysteriously disappears and how they deal with the crisis that follows. In the pilot, the best friend's, Allison, body has been discovered but the girls are still receiving mysterious person texts and letters from "A", posing as Allison.
I enjoyed it, even though some parts of it were confusing (I kept mixing up the two blond characters and forgetting which one went missing). I also couldn't figure out whether or not Jenna had been there at the beginning sleep over where Allison had gone missing (turns out she hadn't been--I'm confused as of right now where this whole storyline is going). I'm hoping the series explains more and gets better as it goes on.
Overall, it was pretty decent (especially for an ABC family drama) even if it seems kind of similar to Gossip Girl with the whole secret text messaging thing. Check out episode 2 on ABC family on Tuesday at 8.

Party Down
Party Down is a show about people who are struggling in Hollywood business (actors, comedians and writers) who work for a catering company as a day job.
I'm actually quite surprised with how much I've seemingly managed to fallen in love with the show. I've watched both season 1 (10 episodes) and caught up with season 2 on Netflix in under a week. Yes, I happen to have a lot of time on my hands (I don't start working til like June 17th), but the show itself is addicting.
Season one took a while for me to get into, it seemed to drag a little and be a little boring. And I just didn't really like Jane Lynch (usually I adore her scene stealing roles) in the first couple of episodes, but around the third episode, Pepper McMasters Singles Seminar, the whole entire show started to begin to click. I think it was finally because the catering company started working these odd quirky parties that fit the cast themselves. Also, it was funny because it became more than the characters acting quirky at boring parties. The parties themselves became entertaining.
My favorite episode of the first season had to be the James Rolf High School Twentieth Reunion. I love how Ron (the company's boss and "Team Leader") thought it would be a good idea to work his own reunion to show people how successful he's become. It's hilarious.
My two favorite characters have to be Casey and Henry. I just love the chemistry they have and how you can tell that even though they when they aren't together as a couple you can still tell they have feelings for each other. Also, in kind of a weird way, can't help but love Roman. I love how he's so incredibly socially awkward and I never go an episode
Unfortunately, Jane Lynch left in the last couple of episodes of Season One (and does not appear in season two so far) to go be on Glee. In order to get the actors they did for the show, Rob Thomas and the creators only required a one year contract allowing the cast to pursue other pilots in case Party Down didn't make it. And Lynch did.
This also means that Adam Scott was free to leave at the end of season two to go pursue another role on Parks and Recreation, meaning he won't return if season three ends up happening.
Either way, Party Down is a show worth seeing. Check it out on Netflix, DVD or Starz website.
