What I'm looking forward to on TV this week, as I study for my political science midterm, work on applying for jobs, and write my first news story:
Sunday:
Olympics: Men's Hockey USA vs. Canada 3:15 pm EST. US already beat Canada once, can they do it again?
Closing ceremonies: Apparently I just read that Nickelback is rumored to be playing, which is making me look less forward to these than I was.
Monday:
How I Met Your Mother CBS 8 p.m. EST: Carrie Underwood is guest starring, and although I don't really care for her, I love HIMYM.
Tuesday:
Parenthood NBC 10 p.m. EST. Series Premiere: This show really doesn't look super great, but Lauren Graham is in it, and I'd probably watch it even if it really sucked.
Wednesday:
I've got nothing. Anybody have any good suggestions?
Thursday:
The Office NBC 9 p.m. EST. : The Office prepares for a baby. I might not make it home in time (Spring Break!) but if not I'll catch up on it afterwards.
What are you planning on watching this week?
PS I'm trying to find a weekly post that really works. What do you think of this?

A long time ago, we used to be friends
It saddens me that most people haven’t heard about or seen the cult favorite Veronica Mars. If you haven’t seen it, I really suggest you check it out. Veronica acts as a high school detective who is on a mission to find out who murdered her best friend, Lily. Even if the idea of a young girl sleuth sounds cheesy to you, trust me, it’s not. Kristen Bell (from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, When in Rome) is a superb actress who portrays Veronica as the perfectly snarky teenage girl. Even with her multiple flaws, you can’t help but love.
While I’ve certainly found enough people to fangirl with on my personal blog/journal on livejournal, I can’t help but think that more people out there need to see Veronica Mars. Although it ended quite abruptly, all of the old episodes are a thrill to watch, and perhaps, as creator Rob Thomas has suggested, they’re might eventually be a Veronica Mars comic book or movie to tie up loose ends.
One of my favorite episodes from the second season is “My Mother, The Fiend.” In this episode, Veronica Mars discovers that her mother was suspended from high school for defaming another student. As she searches to figure out what exactly her mother did to deserve such a punishment, she uncovers much more than she expected to. She discovers the story of a prom baby whom she originally thinks is her boyfriend's mother's illegitimate child. I don’t want to say too much to spoil those who haven’t seen the episode, but Alyson Hannigan (from How I Met Your Mother and Buffy) portrays Trina Echolls perfectly, considering how different the character is from Lily on HIMYM. I’m starting to become a big fan of hers. Also, Veronica Mars learned her mother wasn't such a fiend after all. Even though her mother ran away from home after Lily died leaving Veronica to feel abandoned, Veronica slowly realizes that her mother wasn't truly awful afterall.
If you’re interested in Veronica Mars, I believe there are some episodes available on Hulu and the DVDs are often on sale and are pretty cheap regularly (I think I saw Season 1 for 15 dollars in Giant Food stores once). Here’s a link to My Mother, The Fiend-- http://www.thewb.com/shows/veronica-mars/my-mother-the-fiend/a4cc3e54f4. For those who have the DVD, did you watch the deleted scene? It kind of shocked me!

Sorry About Lack of Posts
It's been a busy week and I haven't felt that great as of lately so I'm sorry I've been pretty absent as of lately. I haven't been very inspired as of lately because of the Olympics taking up much of my television time. I'll probably be watching some of that tonight, as it's the last night I'll probably be in to see some of it. Maybe I'll also watch some of the movie Lost in Translation, and maybe even some of the Secret Life of An American Teenager (I watched another episode last night as I got continually angry at my lack of an internet connection).
Please check out my new poll! And my next post here will probably be about one of my upcoming guest blog I'll be doing!

Winter TV Blues
Sorry for the lack of posts as of late, as you've probably realized, there hasn't been much lately to watch on television this past week. HIMYM was a repeat, and because of the Olympics, there was no the Office. And we've been on a Glee drought for months now.
So what have I been filling my time with? Lots and lots of homework, some swimming (yay for exercise...don't want to become a couch potato!) and of course, the Olympics. I didn't think I'd get into watching the winter Olympics--I love the summer ones, because of gymnastics and swimming. but I've I've mostly been watching figure skating (Go Evan Lysacek!) as well as some curling (which I finally understand now-- thanks to Wikipedia. It's a lot like Bocce Ball scoring-wise) and some ski jumping. Figuring skating is definitely my favorite.
What's your favorite Olympic sport to watch on TV? Or if you've passed on this Olympics, what are you watching instead?
I just wanted to add, please fill out the poll on the right as it helps me figure out what is the best way to reconfigure this blog, and become a fan on facebook! Also, if you'd like to guest blog about anything TV related, just send me an E-mail @ atvandagirl@gmail.com!

Have a Happy Valentine's Day with Your Favorite TV couples
I was kind of at a loss about what I could do for Valentine's Day post here at my TV blog, so I figured I'd share with you my favorite television couples. So here they are (in no particular order--I could never choose):
Luke/Lorelai
Luke and Lorelai will always be one of my favorite couples. They were perfect together, and I just loved it when they got together in the fourth season. I hated that Lorelai went back to Christopher in Season 7 and that Lorelai and Luke didn't get back together to the last second in the finale. It kind of breaks my heart.

Rory/Jess
Who doesn't love a bad boy? Especially one who reads. Although he may not have treated Rory the best in the end, sometimes I still wish that Rory would've given him a second chance in the 4th season or at least on in the 6th season.
Rory/Logan
While I wasn't a big fan of Luke in this Valentine's day episode, I certainly did like Logan's character, especially after I gave up on Rory and Jess.
Veronica/Logan
I've had a constant love/hate relationship with LoVe. Sometimes I really hate Logan for the stupid things that he does and how she puts up with it. At other times their relationship seems very real and I really like them together in retrospective.
Veronica/Piz
I know a lot of people hate Piz, and I know it's because they wanted LoVe, but I still kind of like him. He was really sweet to Veronica and they seemed to have good chemistry. I may be partially biased because the first season I watched was season 3.
Amy/Ephram
I don't think it gets better than the two of them. I just love how in the finale she gets the ferris wheel and tells Ephram that she wishes she would've of wasted time without him. The Everwood series finale is the only TV show I will probably keep on tape for forever. I don't think it gets any better than this:
Quinn/Finn
Again, another unpopular couple. I know, its impossible to get over that Quinn cheated on him, but when she says "Can we just be in love again?" I melt.
Quinn/Puck
Here's another bad boy for you. As much as Puck makes me hate him sometimes (especially for sexting with Santana while he babysitting with Quinn), you just can't deny the chemistry he has with Quinn, especially during the baking scene (sorry I couldn't find any other videos of it):
Jim/Pam
Although I haven't gotten very far with the Office, I just love how cute these two are together, even while Pam was still with her fiance.
Marshall/Lily
I just love Marshall and Lily. I love all the little cute things they do such as call each other while their at work to tell each other what they had for lunch and the tradition of picking each other up at the at the airport with a chauffeur hat and sign, with the other one carrying a six pack from where they had traveled.
Summer/Seth
Last, but certainly not least, is Summer and Seth. Even though their premise for being together is completely ridiculous (Seth stalking Summer for years before she even had any idea who he was). I love them. He's the perfect goofy geek and although she was a snob, she grows into a lovable, caring individual.
I just want to say thanks to all my lovely readers. You have no idea how much comments make my day. Thanks for reading!
Sunday Recommendation Post
As usual, my recommendations for blog posts I think you should check out and follow:
A Man, His Sports, and The Third Wheel
This post just really touched me, and reminded me of my own boyfriend, whom I often end up watching sports with. It was a really cute Valentine's day post.
February Fashion Inspiration: Michelle Williams
This is just because I love Michelle Williams and her style.
Would You Hire a Hooker for Job?
This post, by one of my old journalism professors about a journalist who may be going to far for a story.
Why don't you...?
A list of cute, although girly things to do. I love every post she writes.
What other posts did you find memorable this week?

How do you view this blog? Please leave your input!
If you have a second, please answer the poll on the right. I'm considering moving this blog to wordpress because I checked it out and it has so many more cool features, and since I really don't feel like I've really made a niche for myself here yet, I figured it would be the best time to move.
I think there's a way I can keep it so my posts still appear here though, and I would most likely try to figure that out.
So how do you feel about the move? Should I do it, or should I not? Does anyone have any experience with wordpress vs blogger?
EDIT: Also, I'm looking to find some guest posters for this blog to help cover TV shows I don't watch including American Idol/if you just have an awesome idea for a post you'd like to write relating to TV, I'd be glad to have you. Just leave a comment here or email me at atvandagirl@gmail.com!

Guilty Pleasure Snow Days
Last week I had the pleasure of having not one, but two days off from college. Tthe weekend before that we were trapped inside of our dorm because of the 28.5 inches of snow Philadelphia got. Being trapped inside because of the snow is the perfect excuse to watch a ton of TV.
Lately, I've taken to watching "The Secret Life of an American Teenager" after we discussed it in my Tweens and Teens class. I had seen a couple episodes before that, but it reminded me that it was out there and almost all of it is on the internet (on ABCfamily's website as well as Hulu). Given that I now had plenty of time to watch TV, I decided to do some catching up.
It's not that it's the worst television show out there acting-wise, but it's pretty bad. Ashley (Amy's sister) always makes me laugh. As my roommate pointed out, she hardly ever blinks. Sometimes the story lines are just awful as well.
One of my favorite lines from Ashley is, "Why can't you be like normal parents and just get addicted to internet porn or something?"
So what's your TV guilty pleasure?

I had another one to share, but it appears the blog has disappeared... :(
Feel free to link me to your favorite blogs! I love finding new ones to read!

The Evil, Evil Snow
In light of ruined plans from the snow storm, I've been watching Gilmore girls to try and lighten my mood. I'm starting with "Women Of Questionable Morals" where Lorelai throws a fit about the snow because it's ruining everything for her.
I think later maybe I'll make my way into watching some of the earlier episodes, including "Love, War & Snow." Maybe it'll help cheer me up from this snow funk.
So what TV/Movies are you watching if your stuck in the snow like I am?
