Yes, once again, there is no new HIMYM tonight

And I find it kind of annoying that we seem to go from having a new episode to like 2 repeats before they air another new episode.

Not that I was a big fan of say Glee's 4-month-long hiatus, but I certainly like so continuity. At least Glee came to a conclusion before that long gap. With How I Met Your Mother, I basically forget what happened in the episode before when a new episode finally airs.

The next new episode of HIMYM will air May 3rd, which I presume will be the season finale.

Would you rather have episodes scattered throughout the year or long stretches of new TV episodes with long hiatuses?

HIMYM Home Wreckers

I’m finding Ted’s mother’s fiancé Clint really creepy. Really? She’s behaving like a teenage groupie to her boyfriend? Has HIMYM really become this bad? Ew he really gave Ted a naked picture of his mother and him as a present? This guy is just really creepy. I have a feeling I would have blacked out just like Ted did turning the awful song; for once he’s the sane one. Why is Robin crying? Usually it would be the opposite. Usually Ted’s the wacked out one, not Robin.

Could this actually lead to us getting closer to the mother? I like that idea since we haven’t gotten anywhere? Oh wait, nevermind, Ted’s just buying some crappy “dreamhouse”, which of course is a cliché; it’s a broken down fixer-upper.

I liked Barney’s joke about if it was the blair witch’s house, and even more with how serious Marshall sounded when he said don’t say that it’ll jinx it.

Really, I’m sick of just traveling through past story time. I used to love this aspect of the show, but instead they’ve just made it the center of the story and going for laughs—and it’s not working. I could really care less about the stupid things Marshall doing stupid stuff when he was drunk or a kid. And that’s saying a lot, considering he’s my favorite character.

Wait—Barney cried? Really? This show just starts making less and less sense. Was he doing it just to make a joke out of Robin? I did like that he tried to push it back on her after she revealed the truth—that was a very Barney character thing to do.
And here comes some more clichés, the house isn’t going to pass inspection and Ted telling everybody what he sees the house as in the future.

I like the Marshall/Lily flashback with the inspection and the inspector from the house. That was pretty funny.

I do like that Ted is also realizing he’s going nowhere. Like the show.
Wait—why are they destroying a random wall in the house that Ted paid for?
I’m proud of Ted for going back? But really his mom is baked? And Ted’s saying this is a good decision to be with her dad?

“Your heart is both drunk and a kid.” I liked this line, and I’m glad this story actually achieved the house that Ted will eventually live in I just wish the overall storyline would have been better. Maybe, the last couple of episodes will be better, but I don’t have much hope.

Zoo or False: How I Met Your Mother

I’ve been suffering from HIMYM withdrawal. I can’t remember the last time it was new or last time I even saw an episode of it. The closest I’ve come this month I think was watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall this weekend with Jason Segel.

At least I’ll be interruption free tonight as everyone is working on papers tonight.

So wait, Ted, are you saying you’ve been lying to us? This could make figuring out who the mother so difficult.

I loved Barney’s voice as he said, “We made sweet love! I got pictures!”

Why does Ted reanact scenes from Sleepless in Seattle? He’s very strange at some points.

Poor Marshall. But how does someone as tall as him get mugged? Oh, obviously if it’s at good point. Of course Barney will use his story to get chicks. It was funny that he copied Marshall’s every line.

Okay, it makes more sense if a monkey mugged Marshall, surprisingly. Not going to lie, Marshall isn’t the type of person I’d pick to mug given his height and his build.

Aww, Marshall accidently injuring Lily reminds me of how my boyfriend always accidently injures me.

Eww, what was the monkey doing with the wallet that Marshall didn’t want it back? I don’t think I want to know.

Is this whole episode just going to be different versions of this event? I’m not digging it all that much.

Okay, woah some guy is screaming at his dolls while he’s interviewed on Robin’s talk show. That’s weird. I’m glad Marshall gets to be on her show, better than Ted, Ted, Ted, Ted, Ted. I’m sick of Ted.

When the girl was screaming at Barney “Neil!” (because Barney told her earlier he was Neil Armstrong—who is stupid enough to believe that a 20-something is Neil Armstrong?) I could only think of NPH.

I knew that he wasn’t going to end up being mugged by a monkey. I repeat my previous statement. I don’t like that this is all only one re-imagined event. I’m not digging this storyline for Marshall, even though I normally love him.

I love Ted’s weird creepy stare with Marshall to tell if he’s telling the truth.
Barney, while some journalists lie. But I don’t consider them journalists. GOOD journalists don’t lie. But yes, Barney, lots of people do lie.

“Now, I want to buy a gun.” Best line by Barney.

Of course they brought the monkey and the monkey has a sad story and that is going to make Marshall not say the monkey mugged him. He’s such a softy.

WHAT?! Your not going to tell me what happened? Not liking how this is going.

They slightly redeemed themselves with having Bobo the monkey climb Ted’s model of the empire state building at the end, making a mini King Kong. But, overall, this episode didn’t really do it for me.

I hope the HIMYM writers can redeem themselves in the last couple of episodes in the season, or otherwise I’m worried HIMYM has jumped the shark.

I'm hoping Glee tomorrow isn't disappointing like tonight was.

HIMYM: Say Cheese!

Time for HIMYM--my favorite night of the week (although far from day—I hate Mondays and waking up early). I’m enjoying a little bit of popcorn as I prepare to write this article since the student center’s bagel sucked tonight (and they were out of pizza bagels). I’m also trying to multitask and study for a mosaic (religion/culture/literature class) midterm, but it’s probably going to have to wait until HIMYM is over.

I love a Lily-centric story and Marshall and his birthday plan. And pumpkin cheesecake. It’s making me hungry. I don’t get why they hate her group pictures (maybe that’s because I like them). It’s good to have memories. Ugh what is Ted thinking bringing Amanda? Even if she is a chef. Bleh. Ted should know from previous experience not to bring random girls to their intimate “family” parties. Liliah pursuit. Gilding with Lily. Marshall is so cute. I love these game ideas he came up with.

Really Ted? Your so dense to think that Lily would want some girl you just met in the photo? I love when Marshall sings “Happy happy Lily Day!”

I like that we’re traveling back in time via photo this time. How can Ted not realize that he always thinks these random girls are the one?

It doesn’t surprise me that Barney always takes good pictures and Marshal takes bad pictures. They went to far with him magically making that pose while eating a chip. It’s physically impossible. I would have preferred him just perfectly smiling all of the time rather than this stupid pose that it would impossible for him to be in while Robin was taking these pictures.

How dare you Ted! Lily is not a birthday brat! Poor Lily and Marshall. Karen is brat. I always hated her character, but that’s the point. I like that the Japanese guy did the same thing Ted is doing with Robin. And that Robin is the “skanky exception”.

Go Marshall go! Keep bringing back the birthday song. And I like Barney’s version of the song as well.

Sometimes I wish Ted wasn’t so stupid. I’m really starting to dislike his character. He went out with a girl named Strawberry, really? And who thinks Lily is 42? Amanda deserves a death stare from Marshall.

Poor Marshall always have to clean up for Ted. He shouldn’t have to. And Ted should realize what he does when he brings them to these events that are “intimate” between only their friends. Ted, I wish you weren’t making me hate you, but you are.

Photos aren’t phony Ted. They’re memories. Even if they are posed. They allow you to look back into the past. Aww, Ted, there you go redeeming yourself, allowing Lily to be into your roommate photo when Lily and Marshall had only been dating a couple of weeks. I do find it a little weird that it was like a “roommate” photo and they had let her in. I probably wouldn’t have given that it was probably just supposed to be a “roommate” photo. Then again, I probably would’ve just taken both. But that was the non-digital age.

The ending was funny. I’m glad Robin finally got a bad picture of Barney by making him sneeze.

I really liked this episode, although I lost a lot of respect for Ted in it.

As cheesy as it sounds, this episode reminded me that I should take more group photos of my friends and I.

The Rough Patch

As it’s my favorite night of the week, it’s time for some HIMYM. Well, a repeat at least. I’m eating some yummy cheesecake brownie ice cream since I skipped lunch to do some interviews today, so even a repeat sounds good to give me a break from studying. I could use some, as it seems that I’ve been going through a little bit of a rough patch in my life in general, just like Barney and Robin in this episode.

Hmm. I’m surprised that Barney gave up his porn at the beginning of the episode, even if he is in a committed relationship. But I wasn’t surprised that Ted wanted to keep it. I liked how they brought up the idea of “relationship gut,” and commented that Lily had it, NOT Marshall. I really liked that Lily stole won, and that the video magically flew into the VCR.

I liked that Barney recorded over the porn to leave a message to Ted, that’s so something Barney would do. And he would totally record his own porn.

Aww it’s making me sad to watch Barney and Robin fall apart. I really don’t want this, although I liked the line “I’m my own wing tonight!” as he ate wings, and how it was exaggerated to make them seem like they were really falling apart.

“What’s the nice word for selfish?” “Independent.” This made me giggle. But ew, fat Barney looks so weird. I can’t picture Barney ever saying “I’m glad that’s almost over,” to sex. I just can’t. It isn’t possible. And no, Marshall, please don’t break them up! I know it’s going to happen but I just don’t want it.

I do like, however that they tried to use an engagement right to break them up, and that it failed. I loved that Lily hated that they were getting married but was excited to be a Maid of Honor. And I really don’t feel like Lily should attempt one last break up.

I liked that Barney and Robin had 4 distinct relationship fights. And that Lily had named them. And then combined them into one gigantic event. My favorite was the robot. I liked that they convinced Meg to show by making her think Barney was going to propose to her. I LOVED that it had no effect on them, because they’re in love. And that it was really just a rough patch. And the robot asked if they wanted to go get high with them. But wait a second—that’s not what really happened.

Aw, HIMYM, why’d you have to bring me down. They do break up, because they’re each too awesome. I liked that here they decided they were “two friends getting back together.” Too bad it seems, like in the latest episode, Robin seemed to be taking it too hard. I’m hoping they turn back to their old selves, if I can’t have them together. Sigh.

Winter TV Blues

Sorry for the lack of posts as of late, as you've probably realized, there hasn't been much lately to watch on television this past week. HIMYM was a repeat, and because of the Olympics, there was no the Office. And we've been on a Glee drought for months now.

So what have I been filling my time with? Lots and lots of homework, some swimming (yay for exercise...don't want to become a couch potato!) and of course, the Olympics. I didn't think I'd get into watching the winter Olympics--I love the summer ones, because of gymnastics and swimming. but I've I've mostly been watching figure skating (Go Evan Lysacek!) as well as some curling (which I finally understand now-- thanks to Wikipedia. It's a lot like Bocce Ball scoring-wise) and some ski jumping. Figuring skating is definitely my favorite.

HIMYM Recap: "Jenkins"

This episode was interesting, even if some of it was kind of predictable. While Marshall and Lily are certainly my favorite pair on the show, I didn't really enjoy the whole "Jenkins" story line. I wasn't surprised that Marshall didn't think he was the "reacher" but instead was the "settler" in the relationship or that he would then go try and use Jenkins to try and make Lily jealous.

The storyline I enjoyed most was that the college students used Robin's morning news show as a drinking game. At first I thought it was a little reaching to say that college students were still up then, but then I realized that night when I was up w between 4 and 5 in the morning that in fact, yes, there actually is news on at 4 in the morning. I also like that Robin chose to get back at them (even if it meant risking her career--although this is the TV world. She's certainly done stupid things before and still kept her job).

I though Neil Patrick Harris did an okay job at directing this episode, although I was disappointed at the lack of Barney in it. I think Barney really makes the show what it is and his character can always make me laugh.

In other news, my 4th season DVD of HIMYM should be arriving shortly so I should be able to watch and review that soon.
